The Memory Blocks are small, handmade plaster squares measuring 15 x 20 x 3 cm, some have a porcelain finish, while others reproduce cracks to give an aged appearance creating an antiqued look and feel.
In each Memory Block a piece of history resurfaces in modern style.  A decor idea that allows the decoration of all kinds of walls.  Ideal is the group arrangement on the wall but they can also be a great gift idea for important occasions.

SID DICKENS – BIOGRAPHY
Sidney Michael Dickens was born in 1963 in Prince Rupert a small fishing village in British Columbia, Canada.
In 1983 Sid was accepted to the prestigious Emily Carr School of Art in Vancouver, beginning to develop his ideas and inspirations and creating the recognizable style that identifies him in all his works.
In 1987 after an inspirational trip to Europe, Sid moved his studio from Vancouver to a seaside location. The vision of natural beauty led him to experiment with unusual materials such as whale bones, leaves, metals.
In 1989 Sid attended the Instituto De Allende A San Miguel in Mexico and studied the technique of bronze sculpture.  In later years he traveled to Egypt and Peru where the influence of the cultures left a mark on his art.
In 1991 Sid returned to Vancouver where he set up his new studio and found the expressive medium to apply his art: chalk.
Thus the first examples of his Memory Blocks series were born.
Originally the panels were large with many elements, later he dismembered his art focusing on one or two ideas.   Thus are born the small formats that most strike the public’s imagination and memory and by matching them, manifest the character and style of the collector.

For Sid, people want to feel like an integral part of human history, and his pieces have the solidity and feeling of other times, when everything was more stable and enduring.
He thinks this is the aspect of the Memories that makes them most appreciated.
Everyone’s aspiration is to touch history.  Sid continues to travel inspired by research around the world .Many of his creations are born in the old libraries, museums, and architectural details of Europe.
